Time Mismanagement
In my brief time as the CEO of a small game studio, I have learned one thing better than anything else. Time is the most valuable resource and the most difficult to manage. My team and I never really suffered from lack of development funds, creative ideas, work ethic, or ambition. It always came down to time in one way or another.
First wasted (or just lost) time wastes money worse than anything else. For every day we delayed chasing bugs in Strike Force Trio that was a day of missed opportunity. We can make sales the next day, but the sales from the current day are forever lost. Secondly, every second over schedule takes away from a needed second somewhere else down the pipeline or even from the next game. It also causes teams or departments to become out of sync when one of them falls behind.
Sometimes time is just a source of resource contention. Currently we have so many potential projects that our only issue is how best to manage our time. Making the best choice is key to making the best profit.
Thats my two cents,
